Admissions to SMASH
2026-27 School Year
SMASH is currently located at The Michelle and Barack Obama Center for Inquiry and Exploration at 721 Ocean Park Boulevard.
- Enter the parking lot off Pine Street.
- There is permit parking on Pine Street.
- You may also park along 7th Street; read the signs for street sweeping.
You enter the SMASH front office by walking through the parking lot off of Pine Street. You will see a metal arch that says "The Michelle and Barack Obama Center for Inquiry and Exploration." Go up the ramp into the front office to sign in and get directed to the SMASH Library where we will begin the tour.
Tours are IN PERSON on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon from October to May. Sign up for a tour.
You can email akubicz-preis@smmusd.org, or call the main office at 310-396-2640 to sign up for a specific tour date.

Applications
For residents of the Ocean Park neighborhood, please use this SMASH Application link to indicate your interest in an enrollment appointment with our front office, who will then schedule an appointment with you. The SMASH application is available here
For those who live within SMMUSD but outside the Ocean Park neighborhood, use this SMASH application link. The SMASH application is available here, and fill out the SMMUSD IntraDistrict Permit Application by the due date https://www.smmusd.org/Permits for TK through 8th grade.
Fill out separate applications for each of your students.
Please note: Student's birthday must be on or before September 1, 2021, to be considered for Kindergarten.
